Hey 16ozDays family. Winter sucks here in Minneapolis and now, it feels like it’s dragging on forever. We had such a beautiful, warm glimpse of spring here, but, in typical Minnesotan fashion, that was followed by a snow storm. Having to shovel out our cars was not something we pictured for our Wednesday mornings and honestly, it’s been rough for our whole team to deal with the cold, dark depths of winter. This week, we wanted to take some time to share some of our favorite spots to visit that help us feel warm, cozy, and even give us a glimpse of warmer days when outside may be miserable.
(Third Space’s Coffee Sampler & a Vanilla Latte)
Current Hours: Wed-Sun 8AM-5PM
Address: 2930 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55408
Phone Number: 612-353-5667
Not only does Thirdspace host beautiful storefront windows letting in tons of natural light but their shop is open, airy, with high vaulted ceiling and minimalistic decor. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy going, without fail the baristas always bring good energy to me when I walk in the shop. In the back of their space they have available for public use a happy lamp and board games so you can soak up those UV rays while doing work or playing with friends. They always have a great sampler latte board on deck so check it out and take some time to unwind.
(Dogwood’s open space and many seating options)
Current Hours: Mon-Fri 7AM-7PM/ Sat-Sun 8AM-6PM
1209 Tyler St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413
612-202-8986
This colorful and fun yet simple shop is one of our staple visits. This Dogwood location is in an old warehouse, so you bet the windows are immaculate. With never failing great coffee, we love to grab a warm drink and find a cozy seat on one of their couches and enjoy the good tunes and atmosphere.

To truly get away from the Minnesotan cold, check out a newer addition to the Minneapolis coffee scene, Cafe Ceres. This Turkish inspired cafe is both warm and welcoming. House made delicious Turkish pastries and coffee warms us up every time. They house beautiful plants, windows, and an airy tropical atmosphere with ever pleasant staff. To be transported to a warm, mediterranean paradise, be sure to visit.

The best thing: their fresh, delicious, locally supplied doughnuts from Cardigan Doughnuts. However the shop has plenty more to offer. FRGMNT is absolutely lovely. They have plenty of super comfy lounge seating, forget about cold plastic chairs, and a massive electric fireplace. Their windows let in tons of light that filters through the entire shop. Extra perk: it’s located right next to Wrecktangle Pizza for all your midday cravings.
(Maybe 1/3 of The Emery’s beautiful space)
Current Hours: Mon-Sat 7AM-5PM/ Sun 7AM-2PM
Address: 215 S 4th St, Minneapolis, MN 55401
Phone number not listed for this location, their general email is: info@spyhousecoffee.com
If you want to feel connected to nature, this is the shop for you. These are the plants of your dreams. This Spyhouse, located in the lobby of Hotel Emery, is a movie-like experience. It seriously feels like you are stepping into a jungle. Floor to ceiling plants with absolutely gorgeous wooden tables and chairs, plenty of pillows, an electric fireplace, and a pool table. Although this shop lacks natural light, it will help you feel right at home among the nature or living plants
Lets not forget, spring is right around the corner folks so we don’t have to last much longer. However, until we no longer have to worry about how many layers we have on and if our cars have scrappers in them, these are some of the best shops to visit to have a little escape from our icy world. Winter is hard, really hard, but we are almost done. For even more shops, check out our recent blog post, The Top 10 Coffee Shops of the Twin Cities-Ranked. In This Order, And Why. Stay warm, stay positive, and don’t forget to tip your barista.
