(Grace and Dillon getting work done outside at FRGMNT)
Hey Coffee Addicts! Welcome to this week’s post. In the past week, we’ve been spending every single moment possible outside. It’s finally summer in Minnesota and it feels so, so good. So, with our burning desire to be in the fresh air, we’ve decided to curate a list of our favorite cafes with the best patios. Great for your instagram, great for your winter skin, and great coffee all around. Without delay, let’s dive in and look at our top 7 recommended cafes with outdoor seating.
1. Aster Cafe

A hometown hero, Minneapolis staple, and local favorite, Aster Cafe houses two things we adore: great coffee and a great patio. Right on the river, this unique spot is a must go, especially for brunch. We love sitting outside, enjoying the delicious food, and sometimes even catching some live music.
2. Up Cafe
Located in the NE Minneapolis area, Up Cafe flys under the radar. This spot is a great place to come and hang out, bring your friend, a book, or your work and stretch out on their sunny, private patio. Surrounded with plenty of plants and with in-house roasted beans, Up Cafe is a summer must see for us.
3. Corner Coffee (Northloop)
(A delicious couple lattes from Corner Coffee)
One of our favorite Minneapolis shops, Corner Coffee has three locations: Uptown, Northloop, and Camden. Our personal pick, and the one with the cutest outdoor seating, is Northloop. Their shop has a number of picnic tables and benches varying between shade and sun. Corner also always amazes with a stunning seasonal menu and their summer drinks never disappoint. We love grabbing an iced matcha or cold brew and kicking it in the sun.
4. Common Roots Cafe

Located off of Lyndale, Common Roots is home to an adorable patio, surrounded by lovely plants. This eco-conscious, community focused shop is a peaceful oasis off the busy street. We enjoy their coffee and baked goods; for an added bonus visit on one of their burger nights for a delicious farm to table meal.
5. FRGMNT Coffee
As you all know, we love FRGMNT. Located in the Northloop, they are a perfect meeting spot. Dog friendly, lots of seating, and a spacious environment both indoors and outdoors. Sharing a common outdoor space with the surrounding restaurants, FRGMNT has everything you need for a productive cup of joe or, our favorite, matcha tonic.
6. Spyhouse (Broadway location)
Local chain Spyhouse has many locations, but none with quite the same rustic beautiful patio as the Broadway location. Even inside, their main windows open to allow fresh air and plenty of sunlight inside. A great space to get work done or catch up with friends, Spyhouse has plenty of seating and delicious drinks for everyone.
7. Dogwood Coffee Co (Tyler St.)
(Spacious interior of Dogwood, Tyler St.)
This is by far our favorite of the three Dogwood locations. Located in NE Minneapolis off of Tyler St, this is the most spacious and open environment. Tons of windows and funky murals, they also have a massive patio. Don’t worry, they include lots of umbrellas for midday sitting. We love Dogwoods cold brew and matcha lattes. If you’re a student, remember your ID for a 10% off student discount!
